No Verification, No Salary: FG Sets February 17 Deadline for Civil Servants
No Verification, No Salary: FG Sets February 17 Deadline for Civil Servants
By Achimi Muktar
Thousands of civil servants across Nigeria could face payroll suspension as the Federal Government sets February 17 as the final deadline for verifying their details on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).
The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) issued the directive through a memo, extending the original deadline from February 10 by one week. The government is making it clear—no verification, no salary.
Last Chance: How to Avoid Payroll Suspension
Civil servants who missed the initial deadline now have until midnight on February 17 to update their records via the OAGF-IPPIS payroll validation portal at www.oagf.gov.ng.
Failure to comply, the memo warned, could result in immediate removal from the payroll.
To ensure full compliance, the government has tasked Accounting Officers, Directors of Finance and Accounts, and Internal Audit Units across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) with enforcing the directive.
The Fight Against Ghost Workers and Payroll Fraud
The payroll verification drive is part of the government’s crackdown on ghost workers and fraudulent salary payments in the civil service.
In June 2024, former Head of Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF), Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, revealed that some civil servants who had relocated abroad were still receiving salaries.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu condemned the practice, demanding that those involved return the funds and warning that their supervisors would face disciplinary action.
What This Means for Civil Servants
With just days left before the final cutoff, civil servants who fail to verify their details could wake up in March without a paycheck.
For those yet to complete the process, the clock is ticking.
