Nnamdi Kanu: N1bn suit against FG dismissed by court

By Adedayo Osho

A federal high court sitting in Abuja has dismissed a suit filed against the federal government and Department of State Services (DSS) by the leader of the outlawed separatist group, the Indigenous People of Biafra, otherwise known as IPOB.

James Omotosho, the presiding judge, in a judgment delivered on Monday 1st of July, 2024, held that the group's leader failed to provide substantial evidence in backing the allegation of violation of his fundamental rights by the defendants.

Omotosho said claims by Kanu that operatives of the DSS denied him access to his lawyers, and that the officials tapped into vital conversations with his lawyers, could not be established.

Nnamdi Kanu in April accused the Department of State Service of having  no medical facility to treat him of his ailment, alleging there was ongoing conspiracy for him to die in DSS custody.
