The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted thunderstorms and hazy weather across various parts of the country from Sunday to Tuesday. According to NiMet, states such as Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, Borno, Kano, Yobe, and Jigawa will experience moderate dust haze.
In the North-Central region, partly cloudy skies are expected in the morning, with isolated thunderstorms likely in the afternoon and evening over the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, Kogi, Nasarawa, and Benue States. The South will see morning thunderstorms in Lagos, Cross River, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom States, with more thunderstorms expected later in the day.
NiMet has advised residents to exercise caution, particularly due to strong winds that may precede rainfall in areas experiencing thunderstorms. Those living in the North are also warned to be cautious of dust particles in the air. Airline operators are advised to obtain the latest weather information from NiMet for safe flight planning.
The forecast details the expected weather conditions for each region over the next few days. On Monday, the North is expected to have mostly sunny skies, while some areas may experience thunderstorms. The North-Central region will see thunderstorms in Plateau, Nasarawa, and Benue States in the morning, with more storms expected later in the day. In the South, morning thunderstorms are likely in several states, with more rain expected later in the day.
By Tuesday, sunny weather with some clouds is forecast for the North, with morning thunderstorms possible in parts of Adamawa and Taraba States. The North-Central region will experience partly cloudy mornings, with thunderstorms likely in the afternoon and evening. In the South, early morning thunderstorms are expected in Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Bayelsa States, with more thunderstorms likely later in the day.
