NIGERIAN EXPERT, BULAMA BUKARTI , DISMISSES TRUMP'S CHRISTIAN GENOCIDE CLAIM

Bulama Bukati, a Nigerian human rights lawyer and conflict analyst, has dismissed US President Donald Trump's claim of Christian genocide in Nigeria as "absolutely not true" and a "dangerous, far-right narrative".

In an interview on Al Jazeera, Bukati stated that terrorist groups like Boko Haram target both Muslims and Christians, bombing markets, churches, and mosques without discrimination. He cited data showing Boko Haram attacked 83 churches and 72 mosques, killing over 2,000 Muslim worshippers and 1,500 Christians.

Bukati attributed the ongoing violence to poor governance, corruption, and negligence by the Nigerian government. He warned that Trump's narrative could exacerbate divisions in Nigeria, benefiting terrorists.

While Bukati welcomed potential US military assistance, he cautioned against unilateral intervention, citing past mistakes in Iraq and Afghanistan. Instead, he advocated for collaborative efforts with the Nigerian government and affected communities.
