The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has issued a warning to the general public to be cautious of fraudulent activities surrounding the NDDC Youth Internship Scheme. The commission has confirmed that the registration for the scheme closed on August 31, 2024.
According to a statement released by the Director of Corporate Affairs, Seledi Thompson-Wakama, some individuals have been receiving unsolicited messages claiming they have been selected for the internship scheme. These messages are accompanied by requests for personal information and an acceptance fee.
The NDDC has emphasized that it does not require any fees or payments for the placement of qualified youths in its internship program. The commission has distanced itself from this fraudulent selection process, stating that official communications will always come from its verified websites and social media accounts.
To avoid falling victim to this scam, the public is advised to disregard any messages that:
- Request personal information or payment for the internship scheme
- Claim to be from the NDDC without verification from official channels
- Ask for an acceptance fee or any other form of payment
The NDDC urges individuals who have received such messages to report them to the appropriate authorities. The commission remains committed to providing opportunities for youths in the Niger Delta region through its legitimate programs and initiatives.
