MTN Temporarily Closes Nationwide Offices Due To Vandalism
"MTN Temporarily Closes Nationwide Offices Due to Vandalism
Telecommunications giant MTN has announced a 24-hour closure of all its offices and service centers across the country, effective July 30, 2024. This decision comes in response to a series of vandalism incidents, sparked by the disconnection of customers' lines under the government's NIN-SIM linkage policy.
In a statement released on X, MTN urged affected customers to utilize digital support channels for assistance during the temporary closure. The company has also provided a step-by-step guide for subscribers to unblock their SIMs online.
The closure follows an incident on Monday, where a group of angry subscribers vandalized the fence of an MTN office in the Festac town area of Lagos, protesting the disconnection of their telephone lines.
MTN reassured customers that normal operations would resume after the 24-hour period, and apologized for any inconvenience caused. The company is taking this measure to ensure the safety of its staff and customers."
