Lawan Declares Full Support for Tinubu

"Former Senate President Ahmad Lawan has denied making subversive statements against the administration of President Bola Tinubu. In a statement released on Monday, Lawan's office dismissed the report as a plot by mischief makers to undermine the government.

Lawan, who represents Yobe North Senatorial District, said his views on national issues on the Senate floor should not be misconstrued as an attempt to undermine the Tinubu government. Instead, he promised his total support for President Tinubu and his administration.

The statement by Dr. Ezrel Tabiowo, Lawan's aide, read: "The office of Senator Ahmad Lawan strongly condemns and categorically denies a false and malicious report published by Nasarawa reporters. The report alleged that Lawan said, 'Nobody is criticizing Tinubu because he is Yoruba, we all know his policies caused hunger and unbearable hardships.'

"This statement is untrue, insensitive, and divisive. It is a deliberate attempt to sow seeds of disunity amongst Nigerians. The false report is a fabrication designed by mischief makers to incite ethnic tensions and create political instability.

"Senator Lawan will continue to work diligently, giving his full support to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the progress and unity of all Nigerians. He recognizes and appreciates the efforts of the administration to tackle the myriad of issues confronting our country.

"Senator Lawan commends the President and his team for implementing their vision – The Renewed Hope Agenda – for a better Nigeria. He stands firmly in support of President Bola Tinubu, whom he campaigned vigorously for ahead of the 2023 General Elections.

"We urge all Nigerians to be vigilant and responsible in their consumption of information. We encourage the public to rely on credible sources and reject fake news that is intended to mislead and divide.

"We urge the media and the general public to disregard this false and misleading report. We also sternly warn those responsible for spreading malicious fabrication to desist from such irresponsible and divisive behavior, as legal action will be pursued without hesitation going forward."
