_Lagos Government Condemns Viral Tweet Calling for Igbo Exodus, Demands Probe and Prosecution_

The Lagos State Government has vehemently disowned a Twitter handle, LagosPedia, which recently posted a call for the Igbo to leave Lagos and the Southwest region of Nigeria. The post, which threatened a "#Igbomustgo" protest from August 20-30, 2024, has been widely condemned by the state government as "reckless, divisive, and dangerous rhetoric."

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has distanced himself and the Lagos State Government from the post, emphasizing that Lagos remains a home to all Nigerian citizens, regardless of their ethnic nationality. He views the post as an attempt to sow discord between the Yoruba and other tribes, particularly those who have made Lagos their permanent residence.

The Governor has appealed to Lagosians to ignore the post and any similar content, promising to intensify efforts towards maintaining lasting peace in the state. He has also called on security agencies to promptly investigate the handlers of the Twitter handle and bring them to justice.

The Lagos State Government's swift response demonstrates its commitment to promoting harmony and inclusivity among all residents, regardless of their ethnic background.
