K1 De Ultimate Had Alcohol in Flask During Airport Incident – FAAN Confirms

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed that legendary Fuji artist, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, was in possession of alcohol at the point of boarding a ValueJet flight at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

This disclosure comes in the wake of an incident on Monday, August 5, 2025, in which the musician was involved in a confrontation with airport security and narrowly avoided a dangerous situation near an aircraft about to take off.

In an official statement issued on Wednesday by FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah, the agency clarified the events leading up to the disruption.

“Preliminary investigations show that Mr. Wasiu Ayinde was due to board ValueJet Flight VK 201 to Lagos. During the security screening, he attempted to bring an unidentified liquid substance on board, despite being advised against it by Aviation Security (AVSEC) officers and the flight captain,” the statement read.

Under aviation regulations, including Nigeria’s National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP) and ICAO Annex 17, passengers are prohibited from carrying liquids exceeding 100ml through security unless medically necessary and properly declared.

“Despite these rules being communicated, the passenger refused to comply. He later spilled the contents of the flask — confirmed to be alcohol — on a security officer. When the flight captain intervened, she reportedly encountered the same resistance,” FAAN explained.

The situation escalated when the singer moved to the front of the aircraft, refusing to clear the area even after repeated warnings. For safety, the captain ordered the aircraft door shut, while the musician and some ground crew narrowly avoided injury from the aircraft’s wing.

FAAN confirmed that the AVSEC crime unit intervened and escorted K1 away for questioning. He was later released pending further investigation.

The statement concluded with a firm warning from FAAN:

“We are committed to ensuring the safety of passengers and crew. No individual, regardless of status, is above aviation regulations. Any breach of protocol will be dealt with in line with the law.”

The matter remains under investigation, with FAAN assuring the public that all necessary actions will be taken to uphold safety and order across Nigerian airports.
