🔴 Insecurity: ADC Slams PDP Governors’ Zamfara Meeting, Demands Emergency Rule

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has lashed out at governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for holding a political meeting in Zamfara State, describing the move as grossly insensitive amid a wave of killings in the region.

In a strongly worded statement issued Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC accused the PDP governors of “grinning for the camera in full ceremonial robes” while blood still stained the soil of Zamfara.

“Instead of rallying around their beleaguered colleague to help stop the orgy of killings, they chose to stage a political rally at the scene of mass murder, trampling on the memory of the victims,” the statement read.

Calls for State of Emergency

The ADC went further, urging President Bola Tinubu to immediately declare a state of emergency in Zamfara and Katsina States, citing what it described as the “total collapse of Nigeria’s security architecture.”

The party referenced a string of recent atrocities:

Katsina: 30 worshippers gunned down during dawn prayers in Malumfashi, while 20 villagers were burned alive in their homes.

Zamfara: 47 people slaughtered, including 38 hostages murdered after ransom was paid.

This month alone: At least 45 more Nigerians killed, entire villages ransacked, and dozens abducted.

“In just two months, over 140 innocent citizens have been murdered in Zamfara and Katsina alone,” Abdullahi stressed.

Tinubu Under Fire

Turning its fire on the Federal Government, the ADC accused President Tinubu of neglecting his duties at home while “jet-setting across the world for photo-ops.”

The statement added:

“The President’s silence, his failure to console bereaved families or reassure survivors, is unimaginable in countries he often visits.”

The party also faulted the government’s security strategy, pointing to recent comments by the Chief of Defence Staff urging Nigerians to learn self-defence as proof that the system has failed.

“APC and PDP Have Failed the People”

In conclusion, the ADC said both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the PDP had shown little regard for the suffering of ordinary Nigerians.

“They are only interested in power and politics, while citizens are left to bury their loved ones,” the statement charged.
