In a heartfelt appeal during the Christmas season, Nigerian governors, ministers, and other prominent leaders have called on citizens to remain hopeful and united as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu implements his Renewed Hope Agenda to tackle the nation’s challenges.
The leaders, including Governors Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), and ministers like Nyesom Wike (FCT), Adebayo Adelabu (Power), and Iziaq Salako (Health), emphasized love, compassion, and tolerance in their Christmas messages. They urged Nigerians, particularly Christians, to pray for peace and rededicate themselves to the country’s growth and development.
Governors Spread Messages of Optimism
Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun encouraged citizens to look beyond current economic hardships and support Tinubu’s reforms aimed at revitalizing the economy. He reaffirmed his commitment to improving the living standards of Ogun residents, urging tolerance and unity among people of different beliefs.
“As we celebrate this special season, let us all remember that the present economic challenges are ephemeral,” Abiodun said. “We must support the reforms embarked upon by President Tinubu to ensure prosperity for all.”
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State called on Christians to pray for the nation and celebrate responsibly. Reflecting on the recent Ibadan children’s funfair tragedy, Makinde extended his condolences to grieving families and advised residents to report suspicious activities to security agencies.
Cross River’s Governor Bassey Otu emphasized spreading love and unity during the season, assuring residents that his administration’s economic policies would yield positive results soon. “We are planting seeds for an economic turnaround and significant progress in our state and country,” Otu stated.
Plateau State’s Governor Caleb Mutfwang highlighted Christmas as a time for generosity, unity, and peace. He urged citizens to embrace selflessness and build bridges of understanding to foster harmony.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar reminded Nigerians to remain united and compassionate, urging political leaders to make sacrifices for the collective good. “With love and unity, there is no obstacle too great to overcome,” Atiku remarked.
Former Labor Minister Chris Ngige called for quiet reflection on individual lives and the nation’s future. He encouraged Nigerians to emulate Christ’s values of compassion and care, particularly for the less privileged.
Ministers Affirm Dedication to Progress
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike urged residents to rededicate themselves to God and obey societal laws. “Christians must keep the commandments by showing love to people around us,” Wike said, expressing confidence in the Renewed Hope Agenda’s potential to improve lives.
Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu and Health Minister Iziaq Salako joined in congratulating Nigerians, emphasizing hope and resilience during challenging times.
Defense Chief Salutes Troops
Chief of Defense Staff General Christopher Musa praised the resilience of Nigerian troops in the anti-terrorism war, urging them to reflect on God’s love during Christmas. He expressed hope for positive changes in security operations in 2025 and honored fallen soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
“The courage and sacrifices of our troops ensure the safety and prosperity of our dear country,” Musa stated, reaffirming the military’s commitment to Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) encouraged Nigerians to prioritize their health during the holidays. NACA Director-General Temitope Ilori urged citizens to take advantage of free HIV testing services and make responsible decisions about their health.
