Ghana Mourns: Full Identities of Military Helicopter Crash Victims Revealed

The Ghana Armed Forces has officially released the identities of eight individuals who tragically lost their lives in a military helicopter crash on Wednesday morning.

The ill-fated aircraft, a Z-9 helicopter, vanished from radar during a routine flight from the nation’s capital, Accra, to Obuasi — a town known for its gold-mining significance — where the occupants were headed for an official assignment.

President John Mahama has declared the incident a national tragedy, calling for all national flags to be flown at half-mast in honour of the fallen. He also suspended official duties upon receiving the news of the crash.

The list of victims includes high-ranking government officials, military personnel, and party members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC):

Ernest Addo – Sergeant

In a show of solidarity, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu sent heartfelt condolences to Ghana and the bereaved families, praising the victims for their dedication to national service and sacrifice.

As investigations into the cause of the crash continue, tributes pour in from across Africa and beyond, with many remembering the victims as committed patriots who died in active service.
