In a bold move toward a cleaner, more sustainable energy future, Dr. Zacch Adedeji, Chairman of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Initiative, has unveiled the 2025 workplan aimed at accelerating Nigeria’s adoption of alternative energy solutions.

The initiative, which emphasizes a “Focused Accelerated Deployment” strategy, aims to establish CNG and Electric Vehicles (EVs) as the cornerstones of Nigeria’s energy transition. Speaking at the unveiling event, Dr. Adedeji emphasized the government’s commitment to environmental sustainability and reducing dependency on traditional fuels.

“We aim to deliver Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Electric Vehicles for all-round Nigerian mobility,” Dr. Adedeji stated, reinforcing the initiative’s central goal. CNG is celebrated for its safety, affordability, and reduced environmental impact compared to conventional fossil fuels, making it an ideal choice for the nation’s energy shift.

The 2025 workplan outlines key priorities, including:

Expanding CNG infrastructure across the country.

“With CNG, we’re not only addressing the immediate need for cost-effective energy but also laying the foundation for a sustainable energy future,” said Engineer Michael Oluwagbemi, Chief Executive and Program Director of the initiative.
