From Ideas to Income: Senator Katung Equips 500 Youth and Women Entrepreneurs in Southern Kaduna
💡 From Ideas to Income: Senator Katung Equips 500 Youth and Women Entrepreneurs in Southern Kaduna
Southern Kaduna’s business landscape is set for a boost as Senator Sunday Marshal Katung, representing the district at the National Assembly, empowered over 500 youth and women entrepreneurs with essential business tools to scale their ventures.
At a colourful distribution event in Zonkwa on Monday, beneficiaries walked away with refrigerators, generators, and industrial sewing machines — tools carefully chosen to strengthen small-scale businesses, promote self-reliance, and spark economic growth.
The initiative, coordinated through the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), was executed on the senator’s behalf by Simon Arabo, former DG of the SMK 2023 campaign organisation. Arabo said the program specifically targeted entrepreneurs already in business but in need of equipment to expand operations.
“This process was fair, transparent, and beyond party politics,” he assured. “Those selected should not only use these tools productively but also extend the impact to others in their communities.”
Former House of Reps Minority Leader and Distribution Committee Chairman, Gideon Lukas Gwani, commended the senator for ensuring a non-partisan selection process, while PDP Zone 3 Chairman, Danjuma Akuso, lauded Katung’s people-first leadership style.
For many beneficiaries, the gesture was transformative. Hajiya Maimuna Adamu from Jema’a LGA said her new industrial sewing machine would help meet growing demand in her tailoring business. Mohammed Zakaria from Kachia LGA echoed her joy, noting the equipment would improve his shop’s efficiency, especially during power outages, and enable him to take on bigger contracts.
The event ended with prayers for the senator’s continued success, with many saying his projects are already changing lives and reshaping the economic outlook of Southern Kaduna.
