FG Declares 4-Day Easter Holiday
FG Declares 4-Day Easter Holiday
By Achimi Muktar
Nigerians are in for an extended Easter break this year, as the Federal Government has officially declared Thursday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, 2025, as public holidays to celebrate Good Friday and Easter Monday.
In a statement issued from the Ministry of Interior on Tuesday in Abuja, Mrs. Magdalene Ajani, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, confirmed the holiday schedule, emphasizing that the two days have been set aside to enable Christians across the country to commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
But that’s not all—Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, delivered a powerful Easter message, brimming with hope and inspiration. He extended warm congratulations to all Christians, urging citizens to reflect deeply on the values of sacrifice, selflessness, and love—principles embodied by Jesus during his crucifixion.
“This season should remind us all of the power of unity and compassion,” the Minister said. “The sacrifice of Christ should be a guiding light for us as Nigerians to embrace peace and look out for one another.”
Dr. Tunji-Ojo didn’t stop there. He made a passionate appeal to Nigerians to pray for national peace, unity, and stability during the Easter holiday. He also reaffirmed the government's commitment to delivering on the Renewed Hope Agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, promising ongoing efforts to achieve tangible progress for every citizen.
In the true spirit of Easter, the Minister encouraged everyone to extend acts of kindness to their neighbors and communities.
So, mark your calendars and get ready: a 4-day Easter celebration is upon us, and it comes with a call—not just to rest, but to reflect, reconnect, and rejuvenate the soul of the nation.
