Ex Minister Sunday Dare Attends Sportsville Awards.
On Friday 1st of March 2024,the former Minister of youth and sports development,Chief Sunday Dare , joined eminent Nigerians and top Sports heavyweights across the country in Lagos for the 4th annual Sportsville Awards.
The event, which held at the Blessing Hall of EKO CLUB, Surulere,Lagos is organized annually to reward and recognise various sports stakeholders and Nigerians who have contributed to sports development in Nigeria. Private sector persons ,including corporate entities and the journalists were recognized and rewarded for their achievements and contributions to sport.
Chief Sunday Dare, CON who was Special Guest of Honour was recognized and appreciated for his admirable performance and show of uncommon devotion and passion to sports development in Nigeria during his tenure as Minister of youths and sports development. A minute silent was also observed by the invited guests in honour of late Mrs Ruth Dare, the biological mother of former minister who passed away on Thursday's night.
The event was also an avenue to reminisce on how the former minister brought back to life some dilapidated sport facilities across the country such as the popular Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja abandoned for over 11years before he assumed office, as well as many meaningful programmes and policies he introduced that have turned around the fortune of sports in the country.
Awardees which include representative of Governor of Abia State, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, Chief Solomon Ogba, Rtn Victor Ochei,Mr Gbenga Elegbeleye ,Hajiya Zainab Saleh, Hauwa-Kulu Akinyemi and Women football pioneer ,among others were seen smiling as they took pictures with the immediate former minister of youth and sports, Chief Sunday Dare.
