BREAKING: Ex-Lagos Speaker, Aide Discharged of Lingering Money Laundering Suit
Former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt (Hon.) Adeyemi Sabit Ikuforiji, has been discharged and acquitted of an alleged N338.8 million money laundering case by a Federal High Court in Lagos today Monday 24th of June, 2024.
The Epe born politician was discharged alongside his former Personal Assistant, Oyebode Atoyebi.
Recall that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned Ikuforiji alongside Atoyebi on a 54-count charge bordering on fund diversion.
They both pleaded not guilty before Justice Mohammed Liman, and were subsequently allowed to continue on an earlier bail granted to them in 2012 when they were initially arraigned.
The Harvard trained defendant who steered the affairs of Lagos legislative house from 2005 to 2015 was first arraigned in a suit petitioning his personal assistant, Atoyebi, alongside on March 1, 2012, before Justice Okechukwu Okeke on charges bordering on misappropriation and money laundering.
