BREAKING NEWS: 844 rifles, drugs intercepted by Customs

Operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service have intercepted a 40 feet container filled with various categories of arms, and nine containers loaded with codeine at Onne Port, Rivers State.

Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, while displaying the intercepted weapons and drugs during a press conference on Monday 1st of July, 2024, at the Port Harcourt Area 2 Command, Rivers State, said the arms, ammunition and illicit drugs originated  from Turkey.

Adeniyi told journalists that the weapons and drugs were concealed in fairly used clothes.

He further confirms 844 units of assorted rifles, 112,500 live ammunition, including surplus cartons of drug substances ranging from tramadol to varieties of cough syrups.
