BREAKING: Tinubu Touches Down in Los Angeles on Way to Brazil After Japan Conference

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has landed in Los Angeles, California, on a transit stop before heading to Brazil for a two-day state visit at the invitation of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

The Nigerian Air Force One (NAF-001), bearing the call sign Eagle One, touched down at Los Angeles International Airport on Friday. Tinubu’s visit to Brazil is scheduled for Sunday, August 24, through Monday, August 25.

The trip comes after his participation in the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), held in Yokohama, Japan, from August 20 to 22. At the summit, Tinubu joined plenary sessions, met with global leaders, and engaged executives of Japanese firms with business interests in Nigeria.

According to his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s engagements in Brazil will include bilateral talks with President Lula da Silva and a business forum with Brazilian investors. His delegation, made up of key ministers and senior government officials, is expected to explore new areas of cooperation and formalize agreements through the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs).

Tinubu began his multi-nation journey on August 14, departing Abuja with a stopover in Dubai before arriving in Japan. Following TICAD9, the President is now en route to Brasília, where the focus will shift to deepening Nigeria-Brazil relations and expanding economic partnerships.
