Ady Macauley Breaks New Ground in Kono Dorgboi, Strengthens Bid for 2026 APC Flagbearership

By Alhaji Musa Bah

Ady Macauley, a leading aspirant for the 2026 All People’s Congress (APC) flagbearer position in SierraLeone, made history on August 1, 2025, by becoming the first contender to cross into Dorgboi a remote farming and mining community in Kono District.

Macauley’s visit was warmly received by residents, including women, youth groups, market vendors, and local stakeholders, who turned out in large numbers to hear his message of unity and development.

Local leaders described the visit as unprecedented. Councillor Mohamed Abads Kanu offered a strong endorsement, describing Macauley as a “wonderful ” leader referring to his character and leadership qualities. He urged him to continue to promote national unity and development when chosen to lead the APC

Responding to the endorsement, Macauley reiterated his long-held principles of unity, accountability, and inclusive leadership. He pledged to invest in local infrastructure, including Dorgboi’s community center, and promised that under his leadership, communities like Dorgboi would not be left behind.

Residents interpreted the river crossing into Dorgboi as a symbolic gesture, suggesting Macauley’s boldness and potential frontrunner status in the upcoming APC race.

As the contest for the 2026 APC flagbearer heats up, Macauley’s grassroots engagements particularly in historically overlooked communities may prove pivotal in shaping the party’s direction ahead of the 2028 national elections.
