2027 Polls: APC Governors Dismiss Opposition Threat, Hail E-Registration Drive

Governors under the All Progressives Congress (APC) banner have declared that no opposition party, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC), poses a real challenge to the ruling party’s dominance ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Leading the charge was Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Senator Hope Uzodinma, who made the bold assertion on Tuesday during a high-level visit to inspect the APC’s newly upgraded ICT and Data Centre at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Uzodinma, accompanied by Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State, used the opportunity to downplay concerns from rival parties, particularly the ADC, which recently warned of the "dangers" of another APC-led federal government.

Brushing off the statement, Uzodinma quipped:

“That’s their claim, not ours. In Nigeria today, there are only two political parties: the APC and the rest.”

The inspection visit was in preparation for the APC’s electronic membership registration rollout — a major technological push that party leaders say will revolutionize grassroots mobilization.

Tech-Driven Future for APC

Uzodinma expressed confidence in the initiative, noting that governors were impressed with the infrastructure and fully supportive of the exercise:

“This digital drive is critical. We came, we saw, and we’re satisfied. This will be a game-changer for the party.”

The new APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, who led the governors through the tour, emphasized that the APC is setting a new standard in political engagement and digital integration.

“This system will allow us to understand our base, predict trends, and plan strategically,” Yilwatda said. “We’re bringing data into politics in a way never done before.”

APC Governors Reaffirm Loyalty

Governor Ododo echoed his Imo counterpart, stating that all APC governors remain firmly behind President Bola Tinubu, the party leadership, and the ongoing reforms.

“We’re united in purpose, and we stand ready for 2027 with renewed energy and loyalty,” Ododo affirmed.

Yilwatda Hosts First NWC Meeting

Earlier in the day, Professor Yilwatda presided over his first National Working Committee (NWC) meeting since assuming office at the party’s NEC meeting on July 24.

While no official communiqué was issued, insiders say the 177th NWC session focused on logistics for the e-registration project and strategic plans for the 2026 Ekiti governorship election.

With preparations intensifying and party technology evolving, the APC appears to be sharpening its tools early — not just for 2026 or 2027, but for a long-term digital dominance in Nigerian politics.
