🌍 Tinubu Appoints Climate Crusader Majekodunmi as NCCC Boss, While PETROAN Turns Up Heat on Port Harcourt Refinery 🔥

President Bola Tinubu is sending a clear signal—climate change is on the radar, and it’s getting a new commander. Stepping into the role of Director-General of the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC) is Omotenioye Majekodunmi, a seasoned environmental lawyer and climate finance expert with 17 years of heavyweight experience under her belt.

From advising the NCCC’s financial strategy to steering Nigeria’s global climate diplomacy, Majekodunmi has been deep in the trenches. Now, she’s been handed the top job. Tinubu’s camp calls it part of his administration’s “commitment to tackling the challenges of climate change.”

But as one fire is addressed, another one’s being stoked—this time in Nigeria’s oil heartland.

⛽ PETROAN to Tinubu: Privatize Port Harcourt Refinery—NNPC Can’t Be Trusted

In a bold move, the Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) is calling on Tinubu to take the Port Harcourt refinery out of NNPC’s hands. Why? Chronic inefficiency, favoritism, and a corruption track record that, in their words, “isn’t good news.”

PETROAN spokesperson Joseph Obele didn’t mince words: “Keeping the Port Harcourt refinery under NNPC after plans to privatize Warri and Kaduna is concerning.”

The group argues that privatization would inject investment, accountability, expertise, and jobs—while shielding Nigerians from the NNPC’s poor management that’s caused recurring fuel shortages and economic pain.

So on one side, Tinubu’s trying to green Nigeria’s future. On the other, industry stakeholders want him to clean house at the refineries.

Whether it's climate or crude, pressure is rising—and the president is being called to deliver. 🌍⚖️💼
