The Ohanaeze Ndigbo has distanced itself from a Canada-based Nigerian woman, Amaka Sunnberger, who threatened to poison Yoruba and Benin people in a viral video. The woman's comments were made during a virtual meeting on TikTok, where she claimed to be responding to "hate" against the Igbo. However, Ohanaeze's spokesperson, Alex Ogbonnia, stated that there is no sufficient evidence to prove the woman is Igbo and that her actions do not reflect the Igbo character of thoughtfulness and discretion.

Ogbonnia described the woman as a "miscreant" and a "depressed drowning ethnic bigot" who is obsessed with creating ethnic mistrust and conflicts. He assured the Afenifere, Yoruba, and Edo people that the threat should be ignored, stating that proposals by maladjusted individuals are always "dead on arrival."

Ohanaeze has called on security agencies to trace the perpetrators and face the full weight of the law. The organization has also received calls from prominent Nigerians expressing fears about the possibility of some persons carrying out the threats.
