Apologize and Return? Akpabio’s Media Aide Says Suspended Senator Natasha Holds the Key to Her Own Comeback
🟥 Apologize and Return? Akpabio’s Media Aide Says Suspended Senator Natasha Holds the Key to Her Own Comeback 🎭
In the swirling drama at Nigeria’s upper legislative chamber, the message from Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s camp is loud and clear: Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s return is one apology away.
Kenny Okolugbo, media strategist and consultant to the Senate President, threw down the gauntlet in a recent media engagement, stating that Akpabio never acted out of line in the March 6 suspension of the Kogi Central lawmaker.
“The Senate acted within its powers under Section 60 of the 1999 Constitution. There was no personalization. No politics. Just order,” Okolugbo declared, citing Rule 14(2) of the Senate Standing Orders to back his claims.
According to him, it wasn’t Akpabio who went to court. It wasn’t the Senate who made the “wild accusations.” It was Senator Natasha herself, and her alleged breach of Orders 6.1 and 6.2 sealed her fate — not some political witch hunt.
But here’s the twist in the plot: an apology can fix it all.
“There’s a clause — Proviso 2 — in her suspension. It allows an immediate return if she issues a public apology. That’s all. Just one statement. Yet, she chose escalation instead,” Okolugbo noted, clearly exasperated.
Even the famed Brekete Family Show, once sympathetic to Natasha, reportedly advised her to apologize — advice she apparently ignored.
“This isn’t about content or court drama anymore. It’s about conduct. Distinguished senators don’t drag institutions; they work within them,” he added.
So now, all eyes are on Natasha.
Will she bow, apologize, and reclaim her seat — or stay the course in a battle that’s already cost her months on the sidelines?
The gavel has spoken. The olive branch is extended. The next move? It’s hers. 🎙️🏛️
