⚡ NAF Strike Crushes Bandit Kingpin’s Stronghold in Katsina, 76 Hostages Freed

In a dramatic show of force, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has dealt a heavy blow to the criminal empire of notorious bandit kingpin Babaro, destroying one of his most feared enclaves in Katsina State and rescuing 76 abductees in the process.

The precision strike, carried out Friday evening at Pauwa Hill in Kankara Local Government Area, marks a major breakthrough in the fight against banditry. According to Katsina’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Nasir Mu’azu, the operation was targeted specifically at Babaro’s stronghold—long considered a fortress of terror.

“The victims rescued include all those abducted during the attack on Unguwar Mantau in Malumfashi,” Mu’azu confirmed, though he added with regret that one child tragically lost his life during the ordeal.

The daring rescue mission, conducted between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., freed dozens of women and children who had been held captive in harsh conditions. The raid not only dismantled Babaro’s hideout but also struck at the heart of the network responsible for killings, kidnappings, and extortion across Katsina communities.

Renewed Momentum in Security Operations

Officials say the operation highlights a new phase of coordinated air and ground offensives aimed at weakening criminal groups and restoring hope to communities scarred by violence.

“The Katsina State Government commends the Nigerian Air Force, the Nigerian Army, and other security agencies for their professionalism and sacrifice,” the Commissioner said. “With their bravery and the resilience of our people, Katsina will overcome these enemies of peace.”

He further pledged the government’s continued support through logistics, intelligence-sharing, and community engagement, while urging citizens to remain vigilant and provide timely information to security forces.

A Turning Point?

For residents of Katsina, the successful rescue of 76 hostages signals a shift in momentum in the battle against banditry. With Babaro’s base neutralized and his grip on surrounding communities weakened, security experts believe the operation could mark a turning point in efforts to reclaim villages and farmlands from criminal gangs.

But the fight is far from over. Authorities insist that more strikes are coming, with the ultimate goal of dismantling every hideout and ensuring lasting stability in the region.
