As the dawn of 2025 approaches, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike assures Abuja residents of a transformative year filled with progress and development. Speaking during an inspection of major projects in the capital, Wike’s message was clear: his administration is focused on delivering a safer, more organized, and vibrant Abuja.

Progressive Projects and Ambitions

Wike, accompanied by senior officials, toured the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX), Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal, and Saburi–Dei Dei road construction sites. He expressed confidence in the ongoing work, emphasizing that 2025 will be a year of remarkable improvement for FCT residents.

“All we require is the continued support of residents and business owners so that we can achieve more than we did in 2024,” Wike stated. Highlighting the current festive season’s stable security, he added, “God willing, 2025 will bring a better Abuja.”

Unshaken by Criticism

Addressing controversies surrounding demolition exercises and enforcement of ground rent, Wike remained resolute. "Nothing distracts me. I am very focused," he said, emphasizing that governance inevitably attracts complaints.

The minister defended his administration's stance on demolitions, which have been widely debated. “Demolition must go ahead,” he declared unapologetically. “We are targeting shanties and illegal structures. At the end of the day, even critics will acknowledge we did a good job.”

For Wike, the objective is clear: prioritize the greater good over individual interests. “Governance isn’t about pleasing everyone. It’s about achieving meaningful results for the majority,” he explained.

Security and Stability

Wike lauded the improved security situation in the FCT throughout 2024 and promised to build on this foundation in the coming year. He expressed hope for continued divine protection and collaboration with stakeholders to sustain peace and safety in Abuja.

A Vision for Transformation

The minister’s inspection reflects his commitment to creating an organized and efficient capital city. From ensuring robust infrastructure development to maintaining law and order, Wike’s administration aims to elevate Abuja to a global standard.

As FCT residents look forward to 2025, Wike’s unwavering focus and bold reforms offer a promise of progress, even amid challenges. While critics remain vocal, the minister’s confidence in his vision inspires hope for a better Abuja.

For residents, the message is simple: the future of the FCT is bright, and Wike is determined to see it through.
