Tinubu’s Surprise Palliative Gift to Christians & Muslims in South-East, South-South

In a move to cushion the economic hardship gripping the country, President Bola Tinubu has donated food palliatives to Christian and Muslim faithful across the South-East and South-South regions. The intervention, aimed at supporting fasting devotees, was unveiled in Owerri by Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State on behalf of the President.
What Did Tinubu Donate?
Each state in the 11 states across both regions is set to receive:
✅ Two trailer loads of rice (1,200 bags per state)
✅ Cartons of noodles
✅ N5 million for transportation and logistics
According to President Tinubu, the donation is not just a physical gesture but a spiritual one, aligned with the essence of fasting and charity.
“As we work hard to bring a permanent solution to hunger and high costs of living, the president has decided to intervene with palliative measures to cushion the effects of economic hardship.”
Why Now?
With economic challenges mounting due to global recession and inflation, the Federal Government has acknowledged the need for short-term relief while working on long-term food security solutions.
“The government is investing a lot in agriculture and livestock development to ensure food security and sufficiency. This interim intervention will help bridge the gap between planting and harvest seasons.”
Uzodimma Calls for Prayers
Governor Uzodimma, while announcing the donations, urged both Christian and Muslim faithful to pray for Nigeria and support the President’s policies.
“As you pray, pray for God not to allow the president to be distracted. As long as he implements his programs, Nigeria will become a land of prosperity.”
He also called on governors to be transparent in distributing the items, ensuring they reach the most vulnerable.
Religious Leaders React
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Muslim leaders in the regions expressed gratitude for the President’s intervention, describing it as a welcome relief during the fasting period.
Rev. Divine Eches, chairman of CAN in Imo State, praised Tinubu for his leadership and generosity, offering prayers for his continued success.
“May God grant the President wisdom to continue leading this country effectively.”
Is This Enough?
While the palliatives have been appreciated, religious and community leaders urged the government to do more by creating an enabling economic environment that fosters job creation and self-sufficiency.
With Nigerians struggling under economic pressure, is this just a temporary fix or a sign of bigger relief measures to come?
