President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday, November 10, 2025, received the Minister of Regional Development, Abubakar E. Momoh, and the Minister of State, Uba Maigari Ahmadu, alongside the chairmen and chief executives of the seven regional development commissions, at the State House, Abuja.

The high-level meeting underscored the administration’s renewed commitment to fostering balanced economic growth and addressing developmental disparities across Nigeria’s regions. Speaking during the session, President Tinubu charged the ministers and commission heads to align their activities with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasizing the need for synergy among the regional development bodies to ensure inclusivity and effective delivery of infrastructure, social welfare, and job creation initiatives. 

“The task before us is to bridge the gap between regions, ensure even development, and leave no community behind,” the President stated. “Our vision for a prosperous Nigeria will only be achieved through coordinated action, transparency, and measurable results from every region.” 

The President commended the Ministry of Regional Development for its efforts to harmonize the operations of the various regional commissions, including the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), the North East Development Commission (NEDC), the North West Development Commission, and their counterparts in the North Central, South East, South West, and South South regions. Minister Abubakar E. Momoh, in his remarks, briefed the President on ongoing initiatives aimed at integrating regional development plans into the national economic strategy.

He noted that collaboration among the commissions was being strengthened to reduce duplication of projects and promote shared learning across zones. Minister of State, Uba Maigari Ahmadu, expressed appreciation for the President’s support and reiterated the ministry’s commitment to delivering tangible results that directly impact local communities.

The chairmen of the regional development commissions also pledged to work in harmony and maintain transparency in implementing their mandates. The meeting is seen as part of President Tinubu’s broader drive to institutionalize regional equity, strengthen federal coordination, and deepen development partnerships at all levels of government.

With the renewed collaboration between the Presidency, the Ministry of Regional Development, and the regional commissions, stakeholders say Nigeria may be entering a new phase of coordinated, sustainable regional growth designed to accelerate national prosperity.
