Tinubu Hails Soludo’s Re-Election as Proof of Visionary Leadership
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo on his re-election as Governor of Anambra State, describing the victory as a strong affirmation of his visionary leadership and commitment to the state’s development.
In a statement issued on Sunday, President Tinubu said Soludo’s landslide victory in Saturday’s poll was not only historic but also a reflection of the people’s confidence in his leadership. The re-election, he noted, makes Soludo the third governor in Anambra’s political history to secure a second term in office an achievement he attributed to the governor’s performance, intellect, and people-centered governance.
“The overwhelming victory he recorded in Saturday’s poll has now made him the third governor in the state's political history to win a second term,” President Tinubu stated. “Professor Soludo’s re-election is a testament to his visionary leadership and the significant progress the state has made under his guidance.”
The President extended his felicitations to the people of Anambra State for their peaceful participation, as well as to the security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the smooth and credible conduct of the exercise. According to Tinubu, Soludo’s leadership has shown that intellectual depth and academic rigor can translate into practical governance that serves the people.
“Governor Soludo, the Solution, has demonstrated that knowledge is power and that academic principles can be applied in serving the people, undergirding accountability, transparency, and prudent management of resources,” the President said. Recalling his visit to Anambra State in May, President Tinubu said he had been impressed by the innovation and foresight behind the projects inaugurated during his trip.
“I highlighted the good thinking behind the landmark projects being embarked upon by Mr Solution. That experience is indeed remarkable and will remain indelible in my mind,” he said. The President lauded Soludo for infusing governance with “discipline, grace, brilliance, and a fresh perspective,” saying the state under his leadership continues to live up to its motto as “The Light of the Nation.”
Tinubu urged Soludo to be magnanimous in victory and to extend a hand of fellowship to his opponents in the just-concluded elections. “I urge Governor Soludo to be magnanimous in victory and to seek the cooperation of his opponents,” he said, adding that democratic consolidation requires inclusion and partnership across party lines. President Tinubu also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s readiness to continue working closely with the Anambra State Government in areas of mutual interest, including infrastructure, economic diversification, and youth empowerment.
“I assure Governor Soludo of my unwavering support and look forward to continued collaboration between Anambra and the Federal Government,” he said. He further commended the All Grand Progressives Alliance (AGPA), Soludo’s party, for its steadfastness and performance, saying its victory again demonstrates the strength and vitality of Nigeria’s multiparty democracy. “The victory of the opposition All Grand Progressives Alliance in the election demonstrates that victory for any progressive and hardworking leader can hardly be encumbered or denied,” he noted.
The President also praised the new INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, and his team for what he described as a credible and transparent electoral process. Citing reports from observers, he said the election was conducted in a manner that strengthened public trust in the democratic process.
“I must also thank the new INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, and his team for conducting what observers have described as a credible election,” Tinubu added. “I charge the commission to maintain these standards and further improve its performance, so we can continue to deepen our electoral system.” President Tinubu concluded his message by reaffirming his belief that democracy thrives when visionary leaders like Soludo are given the opportunity to continue the work of transformation and service to their people.
