Tinubu Appoints Governing Councils and Key Officers for Federal Universities

In a major step toward strengthening Nigeria’s higher education system, President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of governing council members and principal officers for key federal universities, including the newly established Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences in Iyin Ekiti, Ekiti State.

Among the top appointees is Binta Garba, a former senator and seasoned administrator, who will serve as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairperson of the governing council for the new institution.

Who’s Who in the New University Leadership?

According to a statement by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the following individuals will shape the future of the university:

Governing Council Members:

Binta Garba – Pro-Chancellor & Chairperson

Joseph Sanya – Council Member

Efe Emmanuel – Council Member

Joyce Ogunyemi – Council Member

Dahiru Ruma – Council Member

Principal Officers:

James Aribisala – Vice-Chancellor

Oluwole Dada – Registrar

Adeniyi Ajayi – Bursar

Isaac Busayo – Librarian

University Set to Open in September

President Tinubu commended Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele for his role in advocating for the establishment of the university in Iyin Ekiti.

With this leadership team in place, the university is gearing up to admit its first batch of students in September, positioning itself as a center for technological innovation and environmental sciences.

Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo Gets New Leadership

In a separate appointment, Muhammed Audu has been named Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Board for the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, Benue State.

A Professor of Mathematics at the University of Jos, Audu previously served as Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, where he led transformative academic and infrastructural projects.

He succeeds Ohieku Salami and is expected to drive the institution toward greater academic excellence and medical research advancements.
