Ten West Africa Countries set to storm Abuja for 13th ECOWAS African Wrestling Tournament as Nigeria seeks to host and win to commemorate ECOWAS at 50 


The excitement of the 13th edition of the ECOWAS African Wrestling tournament is gradually reaching its boiling point with barely 48 hours to the start of the event in Nigeria's capital, Abuja.

All the participating countries are currently rounding off their traveling preparations to arrive in Abuja for the tournament that holds from March 6th to 8th 2025, at the prestigious Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

Ten West African Wrestling powerhouses including Benin Republic, Cote d'Ivoire , the Gambia , Ghana , Guinea Bissau, Guinea Conakry, Liberia , Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo will hope to stop Nigeria from hosting and winning the tournament.

After finishing third in the 12th edition of the Tournament in 2023, hosted by Niger Republic, Nigeria is determined to claim the first position this time around at its backyard.

Since the first edition of the Tournament in 2001 in Niger Republic where three countries featured including Host Niger, Nigeria and Burkina Faso, the ECOWAS African Wrestling tournament has continued to grow in participation and organisation.

And this year's edition in Abuja has further shown how far the tournament has rapidly evolved, and with this edition coinciding with the 50th Anniversary of ECOWAS, the entire sub region is looking forward to a thrilling and exciting  tournament in Abuja.
