Super Falcons Stage Epic Comeback to Clinch 10th WAFCON Crown in Morocco
In a night of high drama and unshakable resilience, Nigeria’s Super Falcons pulled off a stunning 3-2 comeback victory over host nation Morocco to lift their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title.
Playing in front of a raucous home crowd, the Moroccan Atlas Lionesses had stormed into a two-goal lead in the first half, leaving many to believe that the Falcons’ reign was nearing an end. But Nigeria’s queens of the pitch had other plans.
Fuelled by grit and glory, the Super Falcons clawed their way back into the match with a spectacular second-half turnaround. Esther Okoronkwo sparked the revival in the 64th minute, calmly converting a penalty that reignited Nigeria’s hopes.
Just seven minutes later, Ijamilusi struck a fierce equalizer, stunning the home fans and shifting momentum squarely in Nigeria’s favor.
Then came the moment of magic—Chiamaka Echeginni, in the 88th minute, drilled home the match-winner, completing one of the most memorable comebacks in WAFCON history.
With this win, the Super Falcons not only reasserted their dominance on the continent but also added a record-extending 10th WAFCON title to their already glittering trophy cabinet.
It was a night of champions, a tale of tenacity—and the Super Falcons, once again, soared highest when it mattered most.
