The Nigerian Army Headquarters has launched an investigation into allegations of corruption against Brig. Gen. M.A. Sadiq, the former commander of the 3 Brigade in Kano. The general was relieved of his duties and is currently in custody due to accusations of withholding benefits from his subordinates and mismanaging funds during his tenure.

A military source revealed that the Army Headquarters is handling the matter, contrary to speculation that it involves the Defence Headquarters. The source stated that the general was removed after soldiers reported that he withheld entitlements, and he has been invited for questioning.

When contacted, the Director of Defence Information referred inquiries to the Director of Army Public Relations, who confirmed that Brig. Gen. Sadiq is under investigation for "administrative discrepancies" during his command. The investigation aims to ensure a thorough review of the allegations.

This move demonstrates the Nigerian Army's commitment to accountability and transparency within its ranks. The outcome of the investigation will likely have significant implications for the general's future and the Army's efforts to maintain integrity.
