Newlywed Husband Murders Wife in Cold Blood – Neighbors in Disbelief

By Achimi Muktar

Tragedy struck in Edo State as a newlywed woman, Success Izekor, met a gruesome end at the hands of her husband, Kelvin Izekor, on Saturday night. The horrifying incident, which has left neighbors in shock, was confirmed by the Edo State Police Command on Sunday.

A chilling video circulating online shows police officers and stunned residents carrying Success’s lifeless body, her head bearing deep machete wounds, into a police Hilux truck. What should have been the beginning of a beautiful marital journey has instead turned into an unspeakable nightmare.

A Shocking Crime in a Quiet Neighborhood
Residents of No. 50 Upper Mission Extension, Benin City, are still trying to make sense of the brutal killing. A neighbor, who requested anonymity, expressed disbelief over the tragedy.

“I can’t believe what I saw. Imagine being killed by your husband. They are a new couple, and nobody would have expected the woman to suffer that fate,” she lamented.

Success and Kelvin had only recently tied the knot, making the circumstances of her murder all the more bewildering. Questions swirl around what could have led to such a fatal turn of events between the couple.

Police Intervene Just in Time
According to Moses Yamu, the spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, the situation escalated rapidly, with an enraged mob attempting to lynch Kelvin before law enforcement intervened.

“On Saturday, 22nd February 2025, at about 10 PM, information was received that one Kelvin Izekor had killed his wife and was about to be lynched by a mob,” Yamu stated.

“Operatives of the Aduwawa Police Division swiftly responded to the report and met the lifeless body of the woman lying in a pool of her own blood with deep cuts on her head. It took serious efforts by the police operatives to pacify the mob, rescue, and take the suspect into custody for investigation.”

Success was rushed to the hospital, where doctors confirmed the worst—she had succumbed to her injuries.

Spousal Violence on the Rise?
Edo State’s Commissioner of Police, Betty Otimenyin, expressed deep concern over the growing cases of domestic violence, urging the public to seek peaceful resolutions to marital conflicts. She assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted, with justice served accordingly.

As the investigation unfolds, grief grips the community, and many are left wondering: what could have gone so terribly wrong in this young marriage? The tragic end of Success Izekor serves as a grim reminder of the dangers of domestic violence and the urgent need for intervention before it's too late.
