NYSC Increases Corps Members' Allowance to N77,000

By Achimi Muktar

In a groundbreaking announcement, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has confirmed that corps members nationwide will begin receiving a new monthly allowance of N77,000, starting in March 2025.

Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, the Director General of NYSC, made this revelation during an interactive session with corps members at the Wuse and Garki NYSC Zonal Offices in Abuja. He reassured them that their welfare remains a top priority for both the NYSC and the Federal Government.

"This Is a Big Win for Corps Members"

The long-awaited increase has sparked excitement among corps members, many of whom have struggled to make ends meet on their previous allowance. Zaka Deborah Alheri, one of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to the NYSC leadership for ensuring the increment finally became a reality.

General Nafiu also urged corps members to remain disciplined, committed, and focused during their service year, emphasizing that the NYSC is not just a one-year program but a vital tool for fostering national unity and exposing young graduates to Nigeria’s diverse cultures.

A New Era for Corps Members?

This major financial boost is expected to ease the burden on corps members, helping them meet their basic needs and make the most of their service year. As anticipation builds for the first payment in March 2025, many are hopeful that this move will improve the overall NYSC experience.
