NAF Unleashes Devastating Airstrikes on Terrorists in Borno, Wipes Out Hideouts

By Achimi Muktar

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has dealt a major blow to terrorist operations in Borno State, executing precision airstrikes that eliminated scores of insurgents and obliterated their hideouts in the Mandara Mountains.

The air raids, carried out on March 26, specifically targeted terrorists stockpiling weapons and planting Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) around Wajiroko, a known hotspot for insurgent activity.

Deadly Precision Strikes

According to Group Captain Kabiru Ali, Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, the operation was based on “painstaking Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR)” that tracked the terrorists’ movements.

Surveillance footage captured insurgents transporting weapons, fuel reserves, and a gun truck to a concealed location. In response, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) launched multiple waves of strikes, delivering devastating blows to the terrorists’ logistics hub.

“The first wave struck their stockpiles, destroying gun trucks and essential supplies, while sustained rocket and cannon attacks in subsequent strikes ensured the complete annihilation of their assets,” Ali revealed.

Fleeing Terrorists Neutralized

Later the same day, NAF jets targeted another terrorist enclave in Chinene, Mandara Mountains. Intelligence reports suggested that insurgents had relocated there after a previous air raid on Degbewa on March 16.

Reconnaissance confirmed active terrorist hideouts, prompting immediate strikes that set their shelters ablaze. Fleeing insurgents were swiftly engaged and neutralized, further crippling their operational capacity.

Massive Losses for Insurgents

A Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) confirmed the destruction of four terrorist gun trucks, two Toyota Hilux vehicles, and multiple makeshift shelters, significantly weakening the insurgents' capabilities.

With this latest offensive, NAF has once again demonstrated its commitment to eradicating terrorism and restoring security in Nigeria’s troubled Northeast region.
