Military Declares War on IPOB: Vows to Crush Sit-at-Home Orders in Southeast!

By Achimi Muktar

The Nigerian military has issued a bold and final warning to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), vowing to end their reign in the South-East and permanently dismantle the sit-at-home culture imposed on residents.

At a high-level security briefing on Thursday, Maj. Gen. Markus Kangye, the Director of Defence Media Operations, admitted that while fear still grips some residents, the military’s operations are gaining momentum in restoring peace and normalcy across the region.

“Who gave the order? IPOB/ESN criminals,” Kangye stated. “That is why Operation Udo Ka was established—just like Operation Hadin Kai in the North-East. The past three commanders have worked tirelessly to ensure people feel safe enough to resume their normal lives. We are working hard to completely free the South-East from IPOB/ESN influence.”

Military Rejects Global Terrorism Ranking

Amid concerns over Nigeria’s security situation following the 2025 Global Terrorism Index, which placed the country sixth worldwide with 565 terrorism-related deaths in 2024, Kangye dismissed external reports, insisting that the military’s own intelligence provides a more accurate picture of the nation’s security challenges.

“If something is happening in my house, and I am the head of the house, would an outsider’s report be more correct than mine?” he questioned, urging journalists to verify facts and avoid misleading narratives about the country’s security landscape.

Major Military Successes—Terrorists, Oil Thieves, and Kidnappers Eliminated

Highlighting recent military achievements between February 27 and March 6, 2025, Kangye revealed that:

✅ 92 terrorists were neutralized
✅ 111 suspected terrorists were arrested
✅ 18 oil thieves were captured
✅ 75 kidnapped victims were rescued

In a major crackdown on oil theft in the South-South, troops foiled an illegal oil operation worth over ₦521 million. The seized materials included:

452,396 litres of stolen crude oil

224,175 litres of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil

1,920 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS)

87 illegal crude oil cooking ovens destroyed

23 boats, 61 drums, and 47 illegal refining sites dismantled

Massive Arms Seized – Over 3,000 Rounds of Ammunition Recovered!

🔫 21 locally fabricated guns
🔫 26 Dane guns
🔫 7 pump-action shotguns

Additionally, troops recovered:

💣 2,278 rounds of assorted 7.62mm ammunition
💣 26 live cartridges and 64 rounds of 9mm ammo

Final Warning to IPOB and ESN

The Nigerian military is doubling down on its crackdown against IPOB and ESN, signaling an end to their control over parts of the South-East. With massive arms seizures, increased military presence, and renewed operations, security forces are sending a clear message:

The era of IPOB-imposed sit-at-home orders is over. The military is taking back the South-East.

Will this be the final blow to IPOB’s influence in the region, or will tensions escalate further? Stay tuned for updates!
