MEET VICTOR COLLINS, THE ONLY NPFL PLAYER IN THE SUPER EAGLES' CAMP AHEAD OF AFCON QUALIFIERS.

24-year-old Nasarawa United's Central Defender, Victor Collins, is the only player from the Nigeria Premier Football League to make the final 23-man list of Interim Coach Augustine Eguavoen as the Super Eagles of Nigeria prepare for their 2024 African Cup of Nations Qualifiers versus the Squirrels of Benin Republic on 14th November, and Amavubi of Rwanda on 18th November, 2024, respectively.

The highly experienced centre back has exhibited excellent performance in the domestic top-flight league this season for the Solid Miners, earning him the well-deserved call-up to the Senior National Football team, the Super Eagles.

Since joining from fellow NPFL side, Remo Stars, on a permanent deal before the 2024/25 NPFL campaign kicked off, Collins has started seven times out of ten games in the league in full minutes, clocking a total of 630 minutes on the field.

He was an unused substitute in two out of the ten games, whereas he wasn't listed in the line-up once.

The bulky defender helped his side to earn three clean sheets, including winning three games, drawing once, and losing three.

With no goal or assist to his credit yet, Collins and his team, Nasarawa United, have conceded seven times, won nearly 72%(54/75) tackles, with Interception ratio standing at 30% and clearance rate at 50%.

The defender also has an 85%(345/405) pass accuracy, and 60%(24/40) aerial duels won.

The 1.89m tall defence marshal has a clean disciplinary record, with neither yellow nor red card in all the games he has featured in this term, signposting his maturity and composure on the pitch.

His consistency for the Lafia-based Nasarawa United remonstrates his fitness, reliability quality, and defensive prowess.

As Victor Collins is on the verge of making his international debut with the Super Eagles of Nigeria, we hope that he takes along his impressive leadership dexterity, experience and organizational skills to the National Team.
