"Massive Takedown: 96 Terrorists Killed, High-Profile Commander Captured in Explosive Military Operation"

In a major breakthrough, Nigerian troops have dealt a devastating blow to terrorist groups in the northern region, killing no fewer than 96 terrorists during intense military operations. The Defence Headquarters confirmed the dramatic developments on Friday, revealing that 227 suspects, including a notorious terrorist commander, were captured.

Among those arrested was Usman Maisaje, a high-ranking commander and close associate of the wanted terrorist leader, Kachalla Boka. The arrest of Maisaje marks a critical moment in the fight against terrorism, as he is reportedly providing valuable intelligence to aid further operations, according to Maj. Gen. Buba Edward, Director of Defence Media Operations.

“Troops neutralised 96 terrorists, arrested 227 persons, and rescued 157 hostages during the operations,” Buba stated. “The capture of Usman Maisaje is particularly significant, as he is cooperating and offering critical intelligence on the activities of his group.”

The successful missions didn’t stop there. In the South-South region, troops recovered a staggering N712 million worth of crude oil and arrested 45 suspects involved in illegal oil bunkering and theft. During their sweep of the Niger Delta, soldiers uncovered and destroyed massive amounts of illegal refining equipment, including 48 boats, 55 cooking ovens, 60 illegal refining sites, and over 700,000 liters of stolen crude oil.

Additionally, the military seized a large cache of arms and ammunition, including 71 sophisticated weapons and over 1,400 rounds of ammunition, reinforcing the government’s commitment to cracking down on both terrorism and oil-related crimes.

As the battle against these criminal networks intensifies, this latest success represents a significant step forward, leaving the public wondering—will this be the turning point in Nigeria’s fight against insurgency?
