Grassroots Support for Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election Gains Momentum in Lagos
The Progressive Movement for Asiwaju Tinubu (PMAT), a support group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), has intensified mobilisation efforts across Lagos State to secure the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
At a grassroots engagement programme held in partnership with the Governor’s Progressive Movement, National Coordinator, Saheed Olalere, charged members across the state’s 57 local governments to redouble their commitment ahead of the next general election.
Olalere particularly urged youths and residents to participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise to ensure they have valid Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
“Your dedication and passion for PMAT are crucial to our mission. Mobilise youths and those yet to register. Anyone whose card is lost or damaged should re-register—but we must avoid double registration,” he cautioned.
Call for Unity and Inclusivity
Speakers at the event highlighted the need to strengthen social cohesion and ensure government policies benefit all Nigerians.
Rukayat Sogbesan, a member from Ikorodu West, stressed that tribalism remained a challenge and called on leaders to promote unity. Similarly, Mrs. Bola Salau, also from Ikorodu West, commended Olalere for championing the empowerment of widows but appealed for more targeted support to cushion the impact of rising food prices.
Empowerment and Recognition
The highlight of the programme was the distribution of cash rewards to selected individuals, with beneficiaries expressing gratitude and pledging to use the funds to boost their small businesses.
“Olalere has truly put smiles on our faces through his leadership,” one of the recipients remarked.
Political Leaders in Attendance
The event drew notable personalities, including Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu, Lagos Assembly member representing Ikoyi-Obalende; Hon. Moshood Mayegun, Lagos State APC Deputy Chairman; Hon. Vincent Adukwu, Lagos State APC Assistant Youth Leader; Alhaji Isiaq Mofesaye, Lagos State Pilgrimage Chairman; and Hon. Afeez Lawal, a Board of Trustees member and UK-based medical professional, among others.
With grassroots structures now being activated, PMAT leaders say they are determined to translate Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda into political capital that will secure the President’s continuity beyond 2027.
