As Nigerians welcome 2025, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s New Year’s address resonates with hope, resilience, and a roadmap for a brighter future. Delivered with optimism, the President’s speech is both a reflection on the challenges of the past year and a commitment to renewed prosperity for the nation.

The Journey from 2024: A Year of Trials

Acknowledging the economic and social difficulties faced by Nigerians in 2024, President Tinubu highlighted the nation’s resilience in the face of adversity. Despite the soaring cost of food, essential drugs, and inflation peaking at 34.6%, significant progress was achieved. Fuel prices decreased, the Naira gained stability, and foreign reserves increased. Nigeria recorded foreign trade surpluses for three consecutive quarters, with a thriving stock market creating trillions of naira in wealth.

Yet, the President acknowledged the struggles many households endured. "In 2025, we will intensify efforts to lower costs and reduce inflation to 15%," he assured.

A Vision for Economic Empowerment

Key to Tinubu’s vision is economic inclusion. The establishment of the National Credit Guarantee Company in 2025 will expand access to credit for individuals and businesses, particularly for under-served groups like women and youth. This initiative aims to bolster industrialization, create jobs, and elevate living standards.

With an ambitious target of achieving a trillion-dollar economy, Tinubu called on all Nigerians to remain united, stating, “Together, we will stay the course of nation-building.”

Reinforcing Citizenship and National Identity

The President emphasized the importance of shared values, unveiling plans to launch the National Values Charter in the first quarter of 2025. This initiative aims to foster patriotism, ethical conduct, and unity among Nigerians. Complementing this is the National Identity Project, which seeks to build trust between citizens and government institutions.

For the youth, Tinubu announced the inaugural Youth Confab, a platform to engage and empower the next generation.

Sustainable Growth and Innovation

Addressing energy and transportation, Tinubu lauded states adopting Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) public transport systems and embracing electric vehicles. He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s support for such forward-thinking initiatives.

A Call to Unity and Faith

In his heartfelt conclusion, President Tinubu thanked Nigerians for their sacrifices and trust in his leadership. “Your sacrifices have not been in vain,” he said, urging citizens to keep faith in the nation’s potential.

As the nation steps into 2025, Tinubu’s message inspires optimism: “The New Year will bring us closer to the Nigeria of our dreams.”

With a renewed sense of purpose and determination, Nigerians are poised to navigate the challenges ahead, guided by a vision of shared prosperity and progress. Happy New Year, Nigeria!
