FG Launch Groundbreaking Digital Ethics Hub That Will Revolutionize Health Research in Nigeria
By Achimi Muktar
In a bold move that could transform Nigeria’s health research landscape, the Federal Government has announced plans to launch a cutting-edge digital ethics portal by the end of 2025 — a move experts say will eliminate frustrating delays, boost transparency, and attract global partnerships.
The game-changing platform, unveiled during a high-level stakeholders’ workshop in Abuja, promises to streamline how health researchers interact with the government’s ethics review system. Researchers will soon be able to submit proposals, make payments, and track approvals entirely online, removing long-standing bureaucratic hurdles.
Government officials revealed that pilot testing of the portal will begin before the full rollout in Q3 of 2025, giving stakeholders a taste of the improved process.
The ambitious initiative is backed by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation alongside other international development partners, signaling strong global interest in strengthening Nigeria’s research ecosystem.
Designed to align with international best practices, the platform is expected to increase efficiency, encourage collaboration with foreign institutions, and reinforce ethical compliance in medical and health-related research.
For a country striving to compete on the global stage, this digital leap could not have come at a better time.
