Controversial social media personality, Okuneye Idris, widely known as Bobrisky, was forcefully removed from an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight and detained by immigration officers on Thursday night, sparking a frenzy online. Bobrisky, who is notorious for his bold online persona and lavish lifestyle, found himself embroiled in another scandal after the incident at Lagos International Airport.
In a post shared on his Instagram, Bobrisky alerted his followers to the shocking event, claiming he had been injured during an altercation with immigration officials. "Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured," he wrote, adding to the intrigue and concern of his vast online fanbase.
The arrest comes on the heels of a previous attempt by Bobrisky to flee Nigeria through the Sème border in late October. His exit was allegedly thwarted by authorities, raising questions about his legal standing and motives for leaving the country.
The root of Bobrisky’s legal troubles dates back to April 2024, when the Federal High Court in Lagos sentenced him to six months in prison for naira abuse—a charge that initially caused a stir. Official records indicated he was held at the infamous Kirikiri Prison, but rumors soon emerged that Bobrisky spent only three weeks in detention before allegedly being whisked away to a private location under suspicious circumstances.
Speculation surrounding his preferential treatment intensified, with accusations that ₦15 million had exchanged hands to ensure his early release. The scandal grew further when popular social media influencer, VeryDarkMan, released a leaked audio recording in September 2024, allegedly featuring Bobrisky making explosive claims.
In the recording, Bobrisky purportedly implicated prominent figures, including music artist Falz and his father, renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana, stating that they had sought ₦10 million to secure a presidential pardon for him. The accusations set the internet ablaze, and in response, Falz and Falana wasted no time issuing a cease-and-desist letter to Bobrisky, demanding an immediate retraction of what they called "defamatory statements."
Though Bobrisky denied responsibility for the leaked content, claiming he had nothing to do
