Bode George Exposes PDP’s Internal Struggles, Claims Some Leaders Are Working for APC Ahead of 2027 Polls

In a bold and revealing press conference on Thursday, Chief Bode George, former Deputy National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), accused some party leaders of secretly working with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the 2027 elections approach. George’s candid revelations come at a critical moment for the PDP, which has been embroiled in internal conflicts, with loyalty to the party coming into question.

Addressing the situation in Lagos, George did not mince words, revealing that the party was at a critical juncture and on the brink of a crisis. "All is not well with our party. In fact, our party is derailing," George declared. He went on to urge all members, especially those with grievances, to come together and resolve the issues threatening to tear the PDP apart.

As a longstanding member of the PDP, George expressed deep concern over the party’s direction and the growing influence of "disloyal elements" who, according to him, were actively undermining the party’s unity and its chances for 2027. "Some members are already working for the APC in the build-up to the 2027 elections," George alleged, describing these individuals as having "one leg in the PDP and another leg in the APC." He stressed the importance of stopping such "pretension" immediately and called for loyal members to take a stand.

Looking at the wider picture, George criticized the personal ambitions of some key PDP figures, particularly former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who he said should not be "desperate" to become president. "PDP is not the private enterprise of any individual," George asserted, suggesting that Atiku’s ongoing pursuit of the presidency was a threat to the unity and future of the party.

Calling for a shift in mindset, George reminded Atiku and other party leaders of the party's foundational principles, highlighting how it was once led by figures who put collective interest over personal gain. "I wonder why some few characters are now dancing on the graves of these elders," George lamented, suggesting that the current state of the party was a betrayal of its origins.

He also took aim at certain party figures, including Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, urging him to "cool off" and reconsider his divisive approach to party politics. "I am appealing to him as a father to please take it easy," George said, offering advice grounded in the Christian principle of forgiveness and unity.

Further emphasizing the need for unity, George warned that if the party continued on its current path, it would face disaster in the upcoming elections. "We must not allow disloyal elements to continue to use our pedestal for their selfish interests," he urged, noting that without a united front, the PDP could not hope to defeat the APC and reclaim power in 2027.

George’s press conference resonated with a call for the PDP to rediscover its roots and overcome the internal rifts threatening to sabotage its future. He ended with a poignant plea to the party’s elders: "This is the time for all elders and members of PDP to be concerned about the future of our great party."

The stakes are high as the PDP approaches the 2027 elections, with George’s warning serving as a clarion call for party unity and strategic focus. Only time will tell if the party will heed his advice or continue down a path of division and dysfunction
