*Key Demands:*
- *Immediate Payment of Salaries*: ASUU is demanding that the federal government pay the delayed salaries without further delay.
- *Release of Outstanding Earned Academic Allowances*: The union is also calling for the release of the outstanding N10 billion from the N50 billion approved for Earned Academic Allowances (EAA).
*Affected Institutions:*
- *University of Jos*: The ASUU branch at the University of Jos has already commenced strike action, with lectures and statutory duties halted.
- *University of Abuja*: The University of Abuja branch has also joined the strike, with members withdrawing their services in protest .
*Reasoning Behind the Strike:*
- *Persistent Salary Delays*: ASUU cited persistent delays in salary payments, particularly since the transition from the Integrated Personnel Payroll and Information System (IPPIS) to the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS).
- *Deliberate Delay*: The union believes that the delay is deliberate and not due to technical issues with the payment platform .
