"AfDB Powers Up Covenant University Students with Cutting-Edge Data Skills"

In a bold move to address Nigeria's economic challenges through data-driven solutions, students from Covenant University recently participated in an intensive two-day training program aimed at sharpening their data analytics skills. The training, held at the African Development Bank (AfDB) Centre of Excellence in Otta, Ogun State, was a joint initiative between AfDB and McAnderson Institute of Technology.

The program, designed to prepare students for Nigeria's evolving economy, offered a deep dive into the practical applications of data analytics for solving real-world economic problems. Led by Google-certified data analyst Boluwatife Oludipin, the training featured hands-on exercises and case studies, empowering students to use data insights to drive innovative solutions.

Bridging the Gap Between Classroom and Industry

Frederick Oscar and Hope Oladele, two of the expert facilitators, stressed the importance of data literacy in building economic resilience. According to them, as Nigeria moves towards a tech-driven economy, these students will play a pivotal role in shaping the future. Godwin Ebong, an internationally recognized talent, emphasized that data skills could be the key to sparking economic innovation across sectors.

Ajiboye Ayobamidele, COO of McAnderson, highlighted the program's success in bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industry demands. "This training is a crucial step in equipping the next generation of Nigerian leaders with the tools they need to succeed in a data-centric world," he said.
